An engineering control, also known as a “cap”, is a physical barrier that protects human health and the environment from contact with a contaminated area. There are many different types of caps that can be used depending on the contaminated material that needs to be isolated. While properly maintained, these caps can remain effective for many years.

Whitman has over 35 years of experience in both the installation and maintenance of a variety of caps for site remediation projects, in compliance with NJDEP regulations and guidelines.
