Happy Engineers Week 2024!  Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), Engineers Week is dedicated to increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers to ensure a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce.

This year’s theme “Welcome to the Future” is about celebrating today’s achievements and paving the way for a brighter and more diverse future in engineering.

Students Are the Future!

In the spirit of this year’s theme, Whitman is proud to highlight our Engineering Team’s involvement in the ACE Mentoring Program, a free afterschool program designed for high school students interested in pursuing careers in the Engineering industry, as well as Architecture and Construction.

Whitman’s Senior VP of Operations Eddie Alonso, along with Civil Project Engineer Mili Sawyer have teamed up with RSC Architects to share their experience and expertise with the students to help develop their curiosity and skills in the engineering field.

Pictured to the right is Mili Sawyer (far left) with some ACE Mentoring students from High Tech High School’s Secaucus campus at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ.  Students visited their various waterfront project sites in North Jersey this morning to gather more information for their shoreline design CIRT Competition submissions. Students are tasked exploring the best practices and providing ideas and/or basis of a master plan for the sensitive development of Flood Hazard Area Zones that experience significant storm surge inundation, flooding, or water invasion.

We are honored to have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers and technical professionals!

Whitman’s Engineering Team

Whitman is also proud to celebrate this week by acknowledging our entire talented and multi-disciplinary Engineering Team, which is comprised of professionals with diverse backgrounds and vast industry experience in the areas of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) Engineering, Site/Civil Engineering, and Renewable Energy Services.
