What is Revit?

Revit is a building information modeling (BIM) software that is commonly used in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries for creating detailed 3D models and building designs. It can be used to create detailed 3D models of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as generate accurate MEP plans and details. This 3D model can then be utilized to collaborate with other members of the project team, such as architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure that all aspects of the design and construction process are coordinated.

What Are the Benefits of Revit?

  • Real time collaboration across several users on a project team.
  • Change monitoring notifies the project team of updates to the model, ensuring everyone has the latest information.
  • Automated equipment schedules.
  • Linked data within Revit allows changes to be applied across an entire project, which helps to prevent errors.
  • 2D & 3D renderings.
  • Clients will be able to view detailed 3D walkthroughs that can be created in Revit, allowing them to visualize the space as if they were actually there.
  • Realistic viewports.
  • Clash detection.
  • By modelling ductwork and other MEP components in 3D, conflicts can be visualized and resolved before construction begins, preventing costly rework in the field.
  • AutoCAD file export ability.

How Can Whitman Help?

At Whitman, our employees have experience designing MEP systems in Revit for a variety of projects such as corporate buildings, laboratories, schools, and daycare centers.

These designs include:

  • Electrical power design – equipment layout, power & fire alarm device layout, conduit routing, and schedules.
  • Mechanical design – equipment layout, ductwork & piping routing, and clash detection.
  • Plumbing design – equipment layout and piping routing.
