Whitman is currently seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Associate to join our Environmental Division and work on an assignment at a large pharmaceutical client. The ideal candidate would have at least 1-3 years of experience completing environmental plans such as SPCC and Stormwater. Additional experience in performing gap assessments of the current programs and practices; performing mock audits; and transitioning Standard Operating Procedures to company guidelines is required.
Familiarity with the NJ Technical Requirements for Site Remediation and NJDEP Field Sampling Procedures Manual, as well as experience conducting soil/groundwater sampling is preferred. Candidate must have 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and necessary 8-hour refresher courses.
Responsibilities:
- Update environmental plans including SPCC and Stormwater, as needed.
- Respond to incidental spills, as needed, to assist client personnel.
- Perform gap assessments (mock audits) of the current EHS program in place.
- Assist in the transition of EHS programs and procedures into the company’s format.
- Assist client personnel, as needed, with additional EHS tasks.
Requirements:
- B.S. in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in environmental consulting.
- Working knowledge of NJ Technical Requirements for Site Remediation, Administrative Requirements for Remediation of Contaminated Sites, and Field Sampling Procedures Manual.
- Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
