Overview
Whitman was asked to develop and implement a program for the transportation and disposal of oil spill cleanup for a nationwide auto care company. Whitman researched applicable state and federal requirements to ensure the proposed program was in complete compliance with regulations and efficiently streamlined the waste approval process to minimize coordination and paperwork efforts for the client.
A written protocol was prepared and distributed to all locations providing step-by-step instructions detailing the program and process flow. Whitman set up and maintains a dedicated email and toll-free number for the individual sites to contact when a pickup is requested, and provides turnkey service for all sites. This includes all coordination and scheduling efforts between the site, waste hauler, and disposal facility, all applicable supplies (drums, lids, rings), container labels, shipping documentation, and certificate of proper management.
The initial phase of the project consisted of delivering 55-gallon Department of Transportation (DOT) approved empty waste drums to over 300 sites nationwide, with an additional 100+ sites added in the second year of the program. To date, Whitman has provided transportation and disposal services for over 175 sites nationwide ranging from the standard one drum pickup to specialized emergency services involving labor and equipment to over pack damaged drums.
