Whitman is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to join our growing Environmental Division. The ideal candidate will bring 6–10+ years of experience in environmental due diligence, remediation, and consulting. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who thrives in both client-facing and team-oriented environments and is eager to take a key role in a growing firm managing complex investigation and remediation projects across New Jersey.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee environmental investigation and remediation projects from initial planning through completion, supporting senior staff and the Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) of Record as needed.
- Lead the development of project scopes, budgets, and schedules; ensure projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget.
- Analyze and interpret environmental data from field investigations to develop and implement effective remedial strategies.
- Direct and manage field operations, including subcontractor oversight and site health and safety compliance.
- Prepare, review, and edit technical deliverables, including reports, proposals, cost estimates, and regulatory submittals.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, property owners, regulatory agencies (including NJDEP), and other project stakeholders.
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior and mid-level staff, fostering technical growth and professional development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 6–10+ years of professional environmental consulting experience, including hands-on work in site investigation, remediation, and project management.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of NJDEP regulations, including:
- Technical Requirements for Site Remediation (N.J.A.C. 7:26E)
- Administrative Requirements for the Remediation of Contaminated Sites (ARRCS)
- Field Sampling Procedures Manual (FSPM) and applicable Technical Guidance Documents.
- Strong technical writing, data evaluation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with proven client management experience.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (current with annual refresher).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro or related GIS software is encouraged.
- Experience with Deltek Project Management and Accounting Software is encouraged.
