Whitman is currently seeking a Full-Time Environmental Associate/Field Technician to support our waste management and our hazardous material assessment divisions based out of our Somerset, NJ office. This unique position will provide the ideal candidate with an opportunity to perform a mix of office-related project tasks, along with performing hands-on field-related activities, obtaining an array of knowledge for various environmental-based projects. The ideal candidate must possess a positive attitude, have outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, and work well in a team-oriented environment. Candidate must have the ability to coordinate office activities and operations to secure efficiency and compliance with company policies.
Responsibilities:
- Environmental Associate
- Provide internal administrative support for the company’s waste management division, including preparing job-related paperwork, scheduling projects, interacting with clients and vendors, developing/managing spreadsheets, organizing files, support accounting department with billing needs, etc.
- Provide internal administrative support for the company’s hazardous material assessment division (asbestos, lead, mold), including project coordination, reporting assistance, supporting billing, etc.
- Field Technician
- Provide hands-on field services to support the company’s waste management division, including, but not limited to performing inventories, packing of waste material, performing industrial cleaning, and supporting our food recycling hauling
- Provide hands-on oversight and sampling services (asbestos, lead, mold, air) to support our hazardous material assessment division, along with support where applicable in our environmental consulting, and health & safety compliance divisions
Requirements:
- Relevant experience preferred but is not mandatory
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or a related field
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
- Self-motivated, independent, results-oriented, adept at multi-tasking effectively, and able to re-prioritize as required
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and eagerness to learn
- Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds at times
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the entire body. This will include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, carrying, and stooping
- Must be able to work in all outdoor weather conditions
- Must be able to work some weekends and at night, when needed
