The Community Solar Energy Program (CSEP) in New Jersey was established in August of 2023, providing incentives to eligible community solar facilities to support the continued development of solar electric generating sources within the state.

The program allows utility customers to partake in a solar energy project that is located remotely from their property, in turn enabling access to clean energy for utility customers who are unable to currently install solar panels on their property.

The CSEP is open to the installation of community solar facilities on the following types of sites:

  1. Rooftops
  2. Carport and Canopies
  3. Floating Solar
  4. Contaminated Sites and Landfills defined at N.J.S.A. 58:10B-1 and N.J.A.C 14:8-1.2.

CSEP is accepting new registrations beginning on May 15th, 2024 on a first-come, first-served basis until June 1st, 2024 or until the megawatt (MW) block capacity has been filled.
