Brooklawn Middle School
Whitman was retained by the Parsippany-Troy Hills Board of Education to perform asbestos design and monitoring activities related to the demolition of boilers in the boiler room at Brooklawn Middle School. Whitman prepared project specifications, attended pre-bid meetings and made bid recommendations to the owner. Whitman also managed all aspects of the project and obtained necessary permits and variances in accordance with the requirements of N.J.A.C. 5:23-8 for the abatement of all friable asbestos containing materials in an occupied building.
Whitman provided a New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Asbestos Safety Technician with AIHA Asbestos Analysis Registry board approval to conduct project monitoring which included air sampling during abatement activities in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Whitman worked closely with the school district’s Management team to ensure that the abatement was performed on time and on budget so that HVAC upgrades and construction were not delayed.
