Project at a Glance:
Whitman engineers designed the electrical and structural for the solar rooftop, which will have an overall 3.3 MGW capacity, the largest private sector solar roof in the United States. The key challenge was the ”Ultra Fast Track” execution required to complete construction by year end to receive all available rebates. Whitman teamed with Vanguard Energy Partners, the Integrator, to construct the project on time. The project economics are extremely favorable having a payback of less than two years. In addition to the rebates, solar projects qualify for a 30% Federal Income Tax Credit. The scope of services included structural evaluation, electrical design, structural modification and permit drawing specification. Project Challenges
- Coordination of all services.
- Preparation of permit drawings in a timely manner.
- Fast response to infield change modifications.
- Structural evaluation / design of a mezzanine structure within facility.
Additionally, due to rebate deadlines, our office simultaneously executed multiple projects for other clients and all were delivered on schedule.
