Project Description
This was an addition and renovation project that comprised 132,500 sq.ft. of new academic and administrative space and 307,000 sq.ft. of renovations to the existing school. A major 85,000 sq.ft. four-story addition consists of a new main entry and office, nurse’s office, classrooms, computer lab, two gymnasiums and personal fitness lab, and a girl’s physical education and team locker rooms. Another four-story addition to the north of the school provides 12 science labs with prep and storage rooms, 3 lecture classrooms, and a computer lab.
In addition to the new classroom space, auxiliary spaces were increased to accommodate a greater number of students. The media center / library was expanded while the lower level accommodates a new kitchen, faculty dining room and lounge. The existing kitchen has been incorporated into the renovated cafeteria.
All designs prepared by Whitman incorporated the recommended Five-Year Study requirements.
The projected student enrollment for the 2005-06 academic school year was 2236.
