Project Description
A new addition (136,000 sq. ft.) and renovation (131,000 sq. ft.) including new entrance lobby, 12 operating room suites, LDRP suite, medical surge (32) wing, Day Accommodation Center, Admissions, lab and testing, rehabilitation Ambulatory Center, Psychiatric Department, Social Services, Hydrotherapy, In and Out Patient Gym, Rehabilitation Medicine, Audiology and Administration.
Two steam absorption chillers at the end of their useful life have been replaced with two, 1,200 ton centrifugal chillers using environmentally acceptable refrigerant 134A. The chilled water will serve the new building additions, offsetting the increased heat gain generated by new equipment, and spare capacity for future needs.
Low energy fluorescent fixtures are used throughout the hospital. Fixtures consist of the latest electronic ballasts and energy saving lamps. A 1,250 KW emergency diesel generator will provide standby power for lighting, critical power for OR's, LDRP air cooled chillers, heating pumps and life systems.
A fire alarm multiplex addressable fire alarm system has been designed for the new additions with a tie to the existing building systems to have a single point of reference and alarm. A complete wet sprinkler system was provided and included a new fire pump, jockey pump and controllers. A new standpipe system was installed in the new addition and all existing systems were interconnected with the new fire pump supply.
